Director/Associate Ecologist - Ceri Griffiths BSc (Hons), MSc, MCIEEM
I have been working within an ecological consultancy for over 15 years, working on an extensive range of projects in both the private and public sectors. I've worked on a wide variety of schemes from small barn conversions through to large urban expansions and complex, multi-phased demolition programmes.
I set up Herdwick Ecology with the aim of providing clear, pragmatic and cost effective advice to clients, supporting them through the planning process.
I hold protected species licences for bats (England and Wales) and great crested newts and have successfully applied for numerous mitigation licences. In addition, I was one of the first Registered Consultants for the Natural England Bat Mitigation Class Licence (previously known as the BLICL).
I'm particularly experienced in complex Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) and Habitat Regulation Assessments (HRA). I always work proactively with clients, project design teams and stakeholders, and have extensive experience in designing and implementing proportionate and appropriate mitigation strategies.

So why the name Herdwick Ecology! I have a great passion for the UK countryside, with a particular love for the Lake District and the Herdwick sheep that keep you company during a day on the fells.
I keep a number of different animals on my smallholding near Salisbury Plain, including our own small flock of Herdwick sheep, pigs, chickens and some very elderly geese.
